Sky is a 13YO mare who has been in my family since she was 2. My niece was her primary rider 2017-2021 (age 11-14/15). I have had her back with me and running since February 2024. She had a long break due to my niece suffering an injury unrelated to horses. It was only when we were certain she wouldn't be able to ride again I took the mare back over.
Sky hasn't hit a barrel since before I started running her and she HUNTS them!!!!! She gives you the SAME RUN EVERY TIME. She always tries. She is the 2D and 3D queen. I always take her because I can ALWAYS count on her. She falls 1D (even places) at some races in NE Oklahoma, but at the large ones (500-1,600+ runners) she is 2D-3D. She's fallen into each relative to the day. She is faster outside than inside comparatively. I'm picturing a youth rodeo, outside, ground doesn't matter. She's the best.
She KNOWS the gig. Walk up and go. No holding her back, walking up as far as you can, etc. just GO! She is fun! A youth horse deluxe.
She knows the poles. My niece and mom trained her, but unfortunately never entered her due to timing of my niece's injury. Very patterned though. Would just get faster. I cruised her through a couple times and she didn't miss a step. Just not sure about the clock now or if she kept going.
She takes little to no maintenance. We do hocks once a year. Did stifles this last time to be thorough. She is the easiest horse to have around. Listing her to see if she can find a home that is a good fit, but she can also stay with me forever. I say price is firm, but to the right place... I'm open. Respectfully, she isn't a "must sell". I have a ton of videos. She has been running barefoot.
